Taking Measured and Meaningful Climate Action

Our Journey to Becoming Offset Climate Certified®

We’re excited to announce that Tandy Consulting Inc. is Offset Climate Certified® for 2024! This certification demonstrates our commitment to understanding, measuring, and addressing the climate impact from our business operations.

Choosing to Certify

Rather than relying on free carbon calculators and taking a DIY approach, we chose to partner with a third party that specializes in carbon accounting. We want confidence that the climate action we take is grounded in an accurate understanding of the impact caused by running our business.

We found the Offset Climate Certified® program from Offset Alliance, a Certified B Corp, and their MORE framework (Measure – Offset – Reduce – Engage) very easy to understand. After seeing other values-aligned companies that have been part of the program for multiple years, we decided to sign up.

Our Certification Journey Included:

• Measuring the full carbon footprint of our business operations.

• Offsetting 150% of our measured emissions through verified projects.

• Using the results to reduce our future footprint in smart, strategic ways.

• Engaging our team and stakeholders in ongoing climate action.

The MORE Framework in Action

Measure

The first step was comprehensively documenting our 2024 business activities within the certification’s standard carbon measurement boundary for service-based companies. This included:

• Office energy consumption (power bills).

• Business travel, including flight routes and class of ticket.

• Hotel stays related to business trips.

• Locations of remote team members (postal codes).

• Spending on purchased goods and services.

With this information, Offset Alliance performed a carbon footprint analysis and reported back to us on the details of our emissions.

Offset

A company can’t erase or reduce CO₂ emissions that have already occurred, so the certification requires that 150% of our measured carbon footprint be offset. This is achieved by financially supporting projects that make verified reductions or removals of CO₂.

These are commonly known as carbon offsets—financial instruments that help fund independently verified projects operating under strict global standards for greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.

We chose to have Offset Alliance manage the selection and retirement of verified carbon offsets on our behalf, in a way that provides a fully transparent audit trail.

Reduce

The certification provided us with a detailed carbon footprint report, showing how different business activities result in CO₂ emissions. With these insights, we can now make informed, strategic decisions to lower our footprint in ways that make sense for our business—such as smarter travel policies, more efficient office practices, and more sustainable purchasing.

Engage

As part of the certification, we’re provided with resources to help engage our team in lowering our carbon footprint—for example, guidance on exploring renewable energy options for the homes where our remote team members work.

Looking Forward

This certification isn’t a one-time achievement—it’s part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. We plan to recertify each year so we can:

• Stay current with best practices in carbon accounting.

• Track our progress in reducing our carbon footprint over time.

• Keep our sustainability efforts measurable, transparent, and accountable.
